Welcome to the Renaissance Sword Society

Historical European Martial Arts

ABOUT

As the first historical fencing club at MSU, we seek to teach and bring attention to an art rarely seen outside of popular media. The Renaissance Sword Society studies and instructs ancient European martial arts dating back to the 14th century. This includes a variety of weaponry, not limited to, the longsword, rapier and arming sword. While we primarily practice German longsword fencing from the Liechtenauer lineage, we strive to instruct and encourage the practice of other European sword and martial traditions.
